2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

A commitment to style separates the Grand Prix from other mid-size transportation pods. A coupe-like tautness characterizes the exterior design of this four-door sedan, thanks to a more extreme wedge shape and a roofline five inches longer than that of the previous-generation model. The rear end is as muscular as a speed skater's. Pronounced, enlarged taillights are mounted at the corners. A discreet spoiler finishes the deck lid.  The rear is important in appearance and certainly distinguishable from its road mates. Appearance is the most subjective aspect of any automobile. The slightly sculptured hood is a good beginning. The resulting grille with its trademark Pontiac division is straight across on top with bowl-shaped curving sides. If memory serves, the Pontiac Grand Prix has always been fun to drive, and this latest rendition is a most gratifying performer. Buick Lucerne

The Lucerne has a handsome appearance with a good stance thanks to its long wheelbase and wide track. The classic Buick waterfall grill blends in well with the large integrated headlamps. The side profile, with its steeply raked windshield, is reminiscent of several recently introduced European sedans such as the VW Passat and Audi A6. The rear of the Lucerne features a high trunk line with nicely integrated tail lamps.

Six airbags provide plenty of protection in a crash. Along with the Cadillac DTS, the Lucerne gets the first ever application of a dual-depth passenger airbag. It has two sections; a smaller section deploys in a less severe crash or if the passenger is small or seated nearer the dashboard. In a bad crash or if the passenger is not wearing their seat belt the full bag deploys for maximum effect.

Here is the 2006 GMC Canyon

GMC has broadened the Canyon lineup for 2006. The ZQ8 Sport suspension, previously a Chevrolet exclusive, is now available on the Canyon. And there's a new leather-and-luxury flagship called SLT. At the same time, last year's deluxe SLE trim has been split into three sub-levels.

A 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated 175 horsepower comes standard in most models; a 3.5-liter five-cylinder rated 220 horsepower is optional ($1,000) on most Canyons and standard on some upper-level models. A five-speed manual transmission is standard with either engine, with a four-speed automatic ($1,095) optional. Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab configurations are available; although Crew Cabs are offered only with SLE or SLT trim.

The most basic models are the W/T (work-truck) models, offered as a Regular Cab 2WD ($15,330) and Extended Cab 2WD ($17,705), plus new Regular Cab 4WD ($19,126) and Extended Cab 4WD ($21,475) work trucks.

Buick LeSabre, been here for long!

Of the many concept cars that Buick would build over the years, starting with the 1938 Y-Job, the 1951 LeSabre was probably the most significant.

It heralded the end of the so-called "teardrop" shaped fastback cars of the '40s and early '50s, exemplified by GM's "Torpedo" backs, and post-war Hudsons and Nashes.

With the bold and daring LeSabre, Harley Earl (General Motors’ auto stylist) set a direction in automobile styling that would endure into the 1960s.

Generations later, the new 2006 Buick LeSabre's standard features include, a 3800 Series II V6 which delivers 205 horsepower and 230 LB-ft of torque for quick acceleration and passing. This new Buick has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

2006 GMC Envoy

The standard GMC Envoy is a five-passenger SUV with two rows of comfortable seats. The SLE and SLT models are compelling alternatives to the Ford Explorer and other mid-size SUVs. Stable and responsive with excellent road manners, the Envoy comes with a smooth, powerful inline six-cylinder engine that has been updated for 2006.

The Envoy Denali is equipped with a more powerful V8 engine that improves its performance and increases its cargo-hauling and trailer-towing capability. This optional 5.3-liter V8 features GM's Displacement on Demand technology, which idles half the cylinders when cruising to enhance fuel economy. Denali is also upgraded with luxury features and special trim, including 18-inch aluminum wheels for 2006.

The extra-long Envoy XL models are considerably longer, allowing seven-passenger seating and greater hauling versatility. Because it's longer and heavier, the XL doesn't handle as well as the Envoy nor does it feel as reassuring as the wider GMC Yukon. In short, we much prefer the Envoy and Yukon over the Envoy XL, though the latter does represent a value proposition.

For that entertaining family drive…

Buick's first-ever minivan, the Terraza, is a quiet, orderly, handsome family vehicle that offers tremendous flexibility in family entertainment with the standard DVD system and the new PhatNoise option.

An optional three-way entertainment system allows listening to as many as three separate entertainment sources simultaneously, DVD, CD and radio, through the speakers and two-channel wireless headphones.

Buick has set a new aesthetic standard in Terraza. It's a seven-passenger van with a look that never aims at just practicality. There's plenty of cargo room with the luxury of leather-appointed seats, great ways to stow gear and a cabin hushed by QuietTuning. Terraza has the power to get you anywhere and a ride that smoothes the way.
