GM Issues Statement On Suzuki

General Motors Corp. has no plans to fully unwind its current equity relationship with Suzuki. The strategic and business relationship between GM and Suzuki is robust and will continue.

In the event GM reduces its stake in Suzuki, it will be done in an orderly manner through an open market repurchase. GM has no further comment about the speculative news reports. Reuters reported that General Motors Corp is planning to sell its 20 percent stake in Japanese compact car maker Suzuki Motor Corp, the economic daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) reported on Sunday.

Suzuki said in a statement that "GM and Suzuki will not completely dissolve their capital alliance," adding that the two partners would continue their "strong" operational cooperation. A Suzuki spokesman declined to elaborate on whether that was a denial of the report or whether it could signal a partial dissolution of their tie-up.

Sources quoted by Kyodo news agency said it was not immediately clear whether GM planned to sell the entire stake or to whom it planned to sell the shares. Analysts have speculated GM might sell its stake in Suzuki as part of a wider asset restructuring by GM, which sold its stake in Fuji Heavy Industries in October.

2008 Buick Enclave

The 2008 Buick Enclave is expected to go on sale in spring 2007 and is expected to be priced at $28,000-$40,000.

The Enclave will join a wave of new crossover utility vehicles, or CUVs, that combine the smooth ride and responsive handling of a car with the cargo capability and high seating position of a traditional, truck-based sport utility vehicle.

The exterior design is contemporary, with bulging front and rear fenders and organic shapes. Buick added its trademark portholes and strips of chrome surround the glasshouse and tail lamps and brighten the bumpers, roof rails and door handles. The rear roof tapers down toward the rear.

The Enclave features six bucket seats in three rows. Measuring 202 inches, inside may be the coolest Buick interior ever, trimmed with liberal amounts of brushed metal and wood trim. The designers dropped the bottoms of the instruments into their surrounding panels, as BMW does with the bottoms of its headlamps. The center console goes all the way back to the third row of seats. The six bucket seats are heavily bolstered. An optional rear bench seat will be available for seven-passenger use.
